This role leads communications activity for Walk Wheel Cycle Trust’s work in Scotland, supporting delivery projects including the National Cycle Network programme. You’ll help promote walking, wheeling and cycling, sharing impact stories across media, marketing, digital channels and events.

Working within the Policy and Communications team for Scotland, Cymru and Northern Ireland — and as part of the UK-wide Communications Directorate — you’ll play a key role in shaping clear, engaging messaging aligned to organisational priorities.

Some travel across Scotland is expected to support project milestones.

What you’ll be doing

  • Supporting delivery of key communications activity across Scotland
  • Providing communications support to project delivery teams
  • Developing and implementing communication plans for the National Cycle Network in Scotland
  • Leading proactive and reactive media engagement
  • Creating content across marketing, social media, events and digital channels
  • Acting as a main media contact for the Communications department
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues and partners across the UK

What you’ll need

  • Professional experience in communications, marketing, PR, events or a related field
  • Strong understanding of Scotland’s media and communications landscape
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to deliver creative, behaviour-change focused communications
  • Strong stakeholder management skills
  • Confidence working independently and making sound decisions
