About Scottish Cycling

Scottish Cycling is the national governing body for cycling in Scotland, supporting clubs, coaches, leaders, officials and volunteers across every discipline. It is based at the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome in Glasgow and works alongside British Cycling.

The Role

The Events Manager leads the Scottish Cycling Events team and owns its budgets, programmes and stakeholder relationships, with the aim of growing domestic racing and events in Scotland. You line manage the National Events Officer and Event Administrator and share management of the Workforce Officer. The role reports to the Head of Development (Clubs and Events). Expect evening and weekend meetings and events.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the Events team, including line management of the National Events Officer and Event Administrator
  • Oversee the domestic events calendar, monitoring and evaluating it and reporting on impact
  • Run the National Championships awarding process
  • Manage the annual Events budget, reviewing income and expenditure regularly
  • Deliver regional and national events, working with major event delivery partners
  • Lead the events governance groups and make sure risk management processes are in place
  • Work with British Cycling and event organisers on technical regulations
  • Oversee the Event Workforce Plan and support sport development and membership growth

What you'll need

  • At least three years' experience in event or sport development, including strategic planning
  • Experience of financial planning and budget management
  • Experience working with partners, stakeholders, sports clubs and groups
  • Experience working with volunteers and technical officials
  • Proven ability to devise and deliver strategic initiatives and prioritise competing demands
  • Strong written and verbal communication, influencing and negotiating skills
  • A degree or equivalent, or exceptional relevant work experience
  • A current driving licence, the ability to travel, and PVG Scheme membership

Nice to have

  • An event or sport management qualification
  • Understanding of sport technical regulations, ideally cycling
  • Experience delivering cycling events or working in Scottish sport
  • Knowledge of Scottish and British Cycling
  • Line management experience
