About Scottish Cycling

Scottish Cycling is the national governing body for cycle sport in Scotland and the country's largest cycling membership organisation. Its performance team is based at the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome in Glasgow.

The Role

Scottish Cycling is recruiting two Cluster Developers to work across its National Programme and club environments. The job is to raise the number and quality of riders moving through the Scottish Cycling pathway by coordinating local development clusters and working closely with clubs and coaches. The role reports to the Pathway Lead and works alongside the National Coaches. Some weekend and evening work is expected.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate youth cycling activity in the cluster, linking local opportunities with national programmes and pathway standards
  • Design and develop discipline-specific youth development environments with clubs and coaches
  • Build collaborative coaching cultures that develop rider independence and psychological skills
  • Develop coaches and volunteers through shared learning
  • Run monitoring processes and use pathway data to drive improvement
  • Reduce barriers to participation and progression, opening the pathway to under-represented groups
  • Act as the link between riders, parents, coaches, clubs, race teams and national staff

What you'll need

  • Degree-level education in sport development or coaching, or equivalent experience
  • Experience in athlete development environments
  • Experience coordinating programmes
  • Strong organisational and coordination skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • A current driving licence

Nice to have

  • Relevant coaching or leadership qualifications
  • Coach development experience
  • Understanding of talent pathway systems and long-term athlete development
