This is a senior, hands-on role leading the workshop and MTB hire operation at Just Pedal’s Surrey Hills hub. You’ll manage the bike hire fleet, oversee workshop standards, and ensure the hub runs smoothly during all opening hours.
Reporting to the CEO and Area Manager, this position combines mechanical expertise, operational leadership, customer service, and team development. It’s ideal for someone ready to step into – or further develop – a management-level role within a high-traffic MTB environment.
Weekend work, some evenings, and occasional event travel are required.
What you’ll be doing
- Managing and maintaining a Specialized MTB hire fleet
- Overseeing day-to-day operations of a busy workshop and hire hub
- Ensuring smooth workflow, scheduling, and customer experience
- Maintaining high safety and quality standards on all bikes leaving the hub
- Managing inventory and restocking equipment
- Keeping the hub clean, organised, and fully functional
- Recruiting, onboarding, and training staff (with the Area Manager)
- Promoting and selling Just Pedal services to visitors
- Building relationships with suppliers, local bike shops, and the cycling community
- Responding to enquiries and resolving issues efficiently
- Supporting events and occasional off-site activity
What you’ll need
- Bike shop and/or bike hire centre management experience (or readiness to step up into management)
- Excellent mechanical skills (Cytech qualification desirable)
- Essential experience working on MTB and e-MTB platforms
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Ability to manage demanding customers in a fast-paced environment
- Organisational and operational leadership skills
- Confidence using Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and POS systems
- Strong problem-solving ability
- Experience in staff training and development
